Animal Experimentation

Image
Animal testing or in vivo experimentation is the use of animals in scientific experiments. It is estimated that between 50 and 100 million vertebrate animals of various species are used each year. An estimate of the number of rats and mice used in the United States in 2001 put it at 80 million. Most are euthanized after being used in an experiment, one of the many controversial reasons in this regard. Companies sacrifice them even knowing that they are the most important thing and nothing has been done about it yet.  Cruelty Free International explains that toxicity testing involves dosing animals to see how much of a chemical or drug is needed to cause serious harm, in an attempt to gauge what "safe" dose might be for humans. These tests are extremely painful, stressful and invasive, most of these animals are euthanized after using them in an experiment.  1. ✅ we should not buy products tested on animals, for this to check you can check if they have any seal like these:...

1. This interesting story begins in January 2005, when John Kerry became the 44th president of the United States, after defeating George W. Bush Jr. in the elections. It is then that his vice president, Barak Obama, tells him that his electoral victory has only been possible thanks to the fact that the FBI agent, John Patrick O'Neill, and Robert Booker, of the CIA, prevented the attacks that Al Qaeda and Bin Laden prepared.  If they had listened to John Patrick O'Neill about the possible attack on the United States by Bin Laden, perhaps he and four thousand other people would not have died in the attack on the World Trade Center of September 11, 2001. 2. In September 1928, Alexander Fleming was returning from his summer vacation to his laboratory in London, where he noticed a strange culture in a Petri dish that would change the world forever. It appears that in Fleming absence a colony of fungi sprouted and began to dissolve the bacteria growing on the plaque. The "Penici...

The Art of Speaking a Second Language

Image
Speaking a second language has many advantages. Among them, being able to speak and communicate with people in another language fosters independence and improves job opportunities. But it is also a fantastic opportunity to interact, learn and discover other cultures. Some reasons why you should learn a new language are: 1. it is not only for those who travel. Although originally it was thought that knowing a new language was only useful for people who were in charge of creating connections between countries, such is the case of interpreters, these people with privileges in the knowledge of another language were the ones who had every right to overcome borders and retained the domain of being the only ones who controlled exchanges between different countries. But the empowerment of diplomats and business commissioners stayed in the 19th century. 2. The slavery of another language. Today, mastering more than one language is one of the most basic requirements in professional and work deve...

The hero of medicine

Image
"Louis Pasteur was not a doctor or a surgeon, but no one has done as much for medicine and surgery as he did" - Henri Mondor. Louis Pasteur, was a French chemist and bacteriologist, founder of microbiology and a pioneer of modern medicine. Since 1856, when he began to study fermentation applied to the preservation of wine and milk, he had the theory that contamination by microorganisms was the factor responsible for these drinks deteriorating rapidly when they were opened. He therefore resolved that by heating them once packaged to a temperature that would kill these microorganisms, not only would their rapid deterioration be prevented, but the diseases caused by them would also be prevented. Pasteur was definitely a chemist who fundamentally changed our understanding of biology. By proving that diseases were spread by the transmission of pathogens, the sterilization of medical equipment and the cleaning of professionals after treating a sick patient became of crucial impor...
